FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking Wildflower Face Art in Greater Portland, Maine.

Is Wildflower's face paint safe for sensitive skin?

Yes — Wildflower uses only high-quality, cosmetic-grade face paints, applied with clean brushes and sponges at every event. If anyone being painted has a known skin sensitivity or allergy, mention it when booking.

How much does face painting cost?

Private parties start at $160 per hour with a two-hour minimum. Evening bookings (starting at 5:00 pm or later) are $180 per hour. Weddings and premium private events are $185 per hour. Festivals and community events are $160 per hour with a three-hour minimum, or $600 for a half-day and $850 for a full day. All paints, brushes, and setup are included.

How do I book a date?

Call or text 802-233-9666, or send a few details on the Book page. Nearby birthday parties can hold a date with a 50% deposit. Festivals, weddings, and farther towns get a written quote first. Your date is confirmed once the deposit is paid, with the balance due the day of the event.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept card, Venmo, and cash. A 50% deposit secures your date; the balance is due the day of your event, before painting begins.

How far will Wildflower travel for an event?

Travel is included for the Lewiston–Auburn area (including Sabattus, Lisbon, Lisbon Falls, Durham, Greene, Wales, Litchfield, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Poland, Mechanic Falls, and Minot), Brunswick and Topsham, Freeport and Gardiner, and Greater Portland (Portland, South Portland, Falmouth, Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, Westbrook, Yarmouth, Windham, Gorham, and Cumberland). Events a bit farther — such as Biddeford, Saco, Bath, or Augusta — include a $40 travel fee. Beyond that, travel is $1.00 per mile round-trip with a $40 minimum. Venue parking fees, if any, are passed through at cost.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel seven or more days before your event, your deposit becomes a credit toward a new date within 90 days. Cancellations under seven days forfeit the deposit. For outdoor events, please have an indoor or covered backup; otherwise we can reschedule once within 90 days when weather makes painting impractical.

What ages and occasions is face painting good for?

Face painting works beautifully for birthdays and backyard parties, festivals and fairs, community events and fundraisers, and weddings. Kids, teens, and adults are welcome — most designs suit ages 2 and up. Specialty fantasy looks can be planned when you book.

What if my event is outdoors and the weather isn't ideal?

A shaded or covered spot keeps paints and painting time comfortable on hot or sunny days. If rain is in the forecast, having a backup indoor or covered area is a great idea — reach out ahead of time and we can talk through the best plan for your specific location.

Do you paint teens and adults too?

Yes — teens and adults are welcome for special-event and fantasy looks. Share references when you book so we can plan the right level of detail. Dedicated cosplay bookings are quoted separately when available.

How long does each face take?

Most party designs take just a few minutes depending on detail, which keeps the line moving comfortably at parties and festivals alike. More detailed fantasy looks take longer — we'll plan timing with you when you book.

What's included when I book Wildflower?

All paints, brushes, and setup are included. Just provide a small table, two chairs, and a bit of shade if you're outside.

Can I request a specific design?

Absolutely — share reference photos or a theme ahead of time and it'll be part of the lineup on the day.
